One is the loneliest number. Eleven feels better.

I've decided to bet the odds and i like my chances.

So here goes the roll of the dice.

There are so many sights to see.

I hope you tag along for the ride.

happy new year  peace love and possibility ~ xx

"Look at the sky: that is for you. Look at each person's face as you pass on the street: those faces are for

you. And the street itself, and the ground under the street, and the ball of fire underneath the ground: all

these things are for you. There are as much for you as they are for other people. Remember this when

you wake up in the morning and think you have nothing."  - Miranda July [No One Belongs Here More Than You]

i hope these last few days have been kind to you. i've been doing some nogging instead of blogging. house guests. tramping through the snowy blizzard and mighty winds. eating. alot. drinking. too much. ahhh the holidays. they come and go so fast or not fast enough.

last night the BF and I had a much needed date night. The Merchant of Venice. Al Pacino. a late night supper. we slept in this morning with not an ounce of guilt. the outing did us good.

we are headed east for the remaining hours of 2010. it will be quiet and mellow. good friends. more food. maybe a nip or two. wide open spaces. the fresh salty air. the ocean. the midnight sky and plenty of stars. i'll be sure to make a wish or two for me and you and everyone we know.

have a safe and happy! xo

good morning! bright and early here. frost on the windows and my toes feels like icicles. i'm scanning the morning's headlines and cursing the lone mosquito that haunts me while i sleep. this bugger just will not d-i-e. i've nicknamed him 'Jesse James'. he's an outlaw in these parts and there is a warm hand waiting patiently in the wings to deal him his final blow - - so according to one credible source, it looks like Linsday Lohan needs a dose of extra love this morning and some anger management classes for xmas. the latest charge, assault. [i digress].

my holiday cheer finally kicked in on the winter solstice. just wondering if the sugar from all the pie and coffees yesterday had anything to do with it. also, I made the most lovely wreath last night. It is incredibly green and lush and smells divine. actually the first thing i did when i climbed out of bed this morning was just sit and stare at it for a long while.

i started blogging in my sleep this morning, literally. this has never happened before and i had thoughts dancing through my head like sugar plum fairies before i even opened my eyes. so i hope i still have your attention as i talk mostly about nothing today. i'm just here to tell you that the sun is shining and i'm still smiling. [i'll let you know when the drugs wear off].

so wherever you are in the hustle and bustle of your wednesday, i wish you love.

and the moment you've all been waiting for,

drumroll please....

honeysuckle has been chosen as the official color of 2011. sort of a peachy pinkish rose. i'm a big fan! and i can't wait to dress up in my new badgley mischka frocks. i will be the girl about town come first bloom. with three months of winter's slog to go at least there is something rosie to look forward to. [now, where do i find me some long lean legs...]

the wild honeysuckle ~
...From morning suns and evening dews
At first thy little being came:
If nothing once, you nothing lose,
For when you die you are the same;
...The space between, is but an hour,
...The frail duration of a flower.

i have some amazing news. i have found a new font family for CocoRosie. This may not seem all that amazing or amusing to you, but i've been laboring over this for weeks and i've finally fallen in love with a new face. what can i say, I get excited about type. I am updating my cards along with the site. a bit of a branding re-fresh for 011, when i believe all my wishes will come true. well, maybe just one or two...

at the top of my list, more space and less stuff,  (preferably on planet earth).

my wish for today would be for the hallway smoke alarm (two floors down) to stop beeping. this has been going on for weeks. so somebody, please make it stop!

gift guides, gift shopping, gift wrapping, gift giving - - are we there yet?

oh and be sure to add this one to the party mix boys and girls. x o

D a v e  E g g e r s - B E

"This past year I went back to drawing animals. The process for these pictures is pretty simple: I find an old photo of an animal that somehow has some intrigue, and I use a China marker to freehand a version of that animal onto very smooth paper. Then I think of what that animal might be thinking -- if that animal had an antagonistic relationship with humans and was vying with those humans for the favor of a Catholic God." - (quote and illustrations by Dave Eggers)

a very grey, very cold friday. i think it may be time for the down jacket. it feels more like january than december. maybe january will feel like june. now wouldn't that be lovely.

i do not enjoy the cold but i do love wearing my rabbit fur ushanka. everyone seems to love it! well except my mom of course.

have a warm and cozy weekend my loves. mine will be spent mostly by the fireplace with Tom Ford's Paris Vogue and Lula | Issue II -- some cheeses, olives and chocolates from bklyn larder. i practically sampled the entire store today. [me, worried about winter weight? nah, besides it's early yet]

if i do venture out,  i promise to wear my new blue grey slouchy beret, especially for you mom.

Someday, if i'm lucky, i will have real pearls and a diamond tiara. ;) ;)

well, i'm back on the saddle today. nothing like meeting with a lovely couple in love to warm your heart and bolster your spirit. working on a photoshoot for an exciting new project, plotting the cocorosie redesign, and preparing the nest for holiday visitors. tonight's menu is a twist on a butternut squash soup recipe. i'll be sure to pass along, if all goes well.

also, did i mention, over the past weekend i read and finished Fifth Avenue, 5A.M. in just two days before dropping in the mail, a gift to a friend. It was a glamorous read and a nice change of pace from my usual fare. Babe, Truman and Audrey. Ladies, if you are looking for some fun and frivolity, curl up with this page turner.

congrats to my dear friend Mieke who is now engaged! and happy birthday! to my best friend Suzie in the sunshine state (i hope you received my package).

and thirty years to the day god bless you john...

They say teenagers laugh at the drop of a hat. Nowadays I see many teenagers sad and angry with each other. John and I were hardly teenagers. But my memory of us is that we were a couple who laughed -yoko ono

i've spent most of the past week in 'lighten the load' mode. discarding magazines, organizing tax receipts and swiffering dust bunnies left and right. 'busy work' i call it. as the christmas holiday, the end of the year and another birthday looms large. i find myself untangling necklaces and polishing silver in a manner both deliberate and determined. all in an attempt to distract myself from the melancholy madness this season inevitably brings. i spent most of the day in the city, at the flower market, covering a weekly and walking the streets of chelsea, dripping in holiday finery and for a few hours at least, i found myself in the bustle of it all. It was a bitter cold fall day, the first of the season. Back in BK, i retreated to the local bookstore where i can spend endless hours perusing the shelves. It was there i met a new friend. We shared a cup of coffee and a slice of marble pound cake. He insisted on the pound cake. There we sat for almost two hours talking about everything from art to philosophy. I want to thank Al for his stories, humor, warmth, and grace. our encounter was the bright spot in my day. He reminded me that the season is just a season full of it's grand expectations and material excesses, but life, the gift of life is truly something to treasure.
