In the 1930s Richard Kline of Paramount was a personal trainer to the stars like Clara Bow, Claudette Colbert and Carole Lombard. His advice to housewives, "since you are not in Hollywood to receive personal attention to your individual problem": "when you bend in your housework, do it gracefully, be conscious of the rhythmic use of your body and legs as you do it. Think rhythm when you sweep; your arms and back will be beautiful." (Beauty Review Magazine, October 1939)

back to the mat...xo
