ON THE ROAD

ON THE ROAD

Preparing for a short trip north of the city to spend a few days
with family. The weather is foul. wind, rain and flooding. Not my
favorite conditions for driving. I will take it slow. I hope you
do the same and stay dry if you happen to be trudging
around the city today. If you are lucky enough to be where
the sun is say hello for me. I look forward to the warm hugs
that await me on the other side of the ark.

ciao for now. xo

HAPPY WEEKEND

Happy Weekend

i am glad for friday. it has been a busy week. hustling, hustling, hustling. i was thinking of what i could do this weekend that would be out of the ordinary. many things came to mind but i thought how lovely it would be to ride my bike wearing fancy shoes licking my lips of cotton candy. of course this will never happen but just the thought has put me in a brighter mood.

do something fun maybe even a bit daring, you may surprise yourself.

Enjoy the weekend! xo

I WISH YOU LOVE

hello. i've been away from blogging for little over a week. i took a brief hiatus to focus on a few work projects and finish up the flower site. well it's finished. just working out a technical bug and quite a bugger it is. any day. but for now i'll leave you with a little Dusty Springfield.

"I wish you bluebirds in the spring

To give your heart a song to sing

And then a kiss, but more than this

I wish you love"

GOODBYE WINTER

credit: Anselm Keifer, "Snow melt in the Odenwald," gouache on photographic paper.

text on photo reads: Goodbye, winter, parting hurts but your departure makes my heart cheer. Gladly I forget thee, may you always be far away. Goodbye, winter parting hurts.

this about sums it up.

Happy Spring!

5 days til Spring

5 days til...

Well the nor'easter blew through with a vengeance to make way for plenty of sunshine and the arrival of Spring. I'll be taking a brief hiatus from blogging this week to put the last minute touches on the flower site and direct attention to other projects while my tech guru works his magic.

Have a lovely week and see you all soon enough. xo

BONJOUR AMI

I had all intentions of taking a break from blogging this weekend but after yummy waffles n bananas for breakfast i quickly found myself under my furry blanket on the couch feeling a bit lazy. The apartment is in desperate need of a rubdown. There is a pile of laundry beckoning attention. Here i sit distracting myself from my long list of chores. The rain is still falling like mad. All morning i've been listening to Charlotte Gainsbourg's album IRM. It's put me in a bit of a lovely trance.

I found this dreamy picture of Charlotte from an old French Vogue spread.

oh yeah and here is a sampling of 'Heaven Can Wait' from
the new album. Love the video.

Enjoy!

Time to get on the yoga mat.

A RAIN CHECK

A RAIN CHECK
dreaming of TULUM on this cold rainy friday. she seems
so faraway. wish i was soaking up the hot sun on the sandy
shores of this mexican retreat. there will come a day when i
will return to this magical place by the sea and rest my weary
head upon the long stretch of beach listening to the
the waves over and over and over again.

how sweet the sound!

stay dry my friends, warmer days ahead.

RESERVATIONS ANYONE

PULINOS BAR & PIZZERIA
282 Bowery, New York NY 10012
at E. Houston

Well the much anticipated arrival of Keith McNally's Pulinos is almost here. The soft opening (breakfast and lunch only) is slated for Monday 3/15 and reservations are now being accepted. Dinner service starts later this month.

I'm a fan of both Balthazar and Schiller's (ok and the occasional Shake Shack) two of KM's successful eateries. I'm looking forward to tasting the goods at this new spot. Meats and cheeses and wine. What better way to kick off the spring season in downtown NYC.

THE MAD HATTER. Paris Fashion Week 010/11

PARIS FASHION WEEK. on the runways...
There is a little bit of crazy for everyone when it comes to headpieces for Fall/Winter 2010.
The designers at Paris Fashion Week have made some quirky, amusing, outrageous toppers, but warm? Who needs to be warm when you can look fashionable. Turbans, babushkas, veils, leather caps, hooded bonnets. I must admit as ridiculous as it is i'm loving the Maison Martin Magiela furry hat with giant ear flaps that would probrably swallow me whole. Not very practical but what fun!

Even so Spring is almost here. Fall can wait (for now).

MY VOTE

MY VOTE
There were some wonderful films in 2009 but the two that i loved the most are represented among this year's long list of Oscar nominees. Wes Andersen's amusing animated feature "The Fantastic Mr. Fox" and Tom Ford's poignant "A Single Man."

George (Colin Firth):
A few times in my life I've had moments of absolute clarity, when for a few brief seconds the silence drowns out the noise and I can feel rather than think, and things seem so sharp and the world seems so fresh. I can never make these moments last. I cling to them, but like everything, they fade. I have lived my life on the moments. They pull me back to the present, and I realize that everything is exactly the way it was meant to be.

Mr. Fox (George Clooney):
Honey, I am seven fox years old. My father died at seven and a half.
I don't want to live in a hole anymore, and I'm going to do something about it.

I love the way movies make you feel.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Slowly thawing and climbing to 50 degrees here in NYC.

THE MAD HATTER. The OSCAR goes to...

THE MAD HATTER. The Oscar goes to...

To celebrate Oscar i thought a mix of femmes,
film and fashion would be in order.

Some of my favorites:

There was Greta Garbo in Anna Christie.
Nominated Best Actress 1930.

Marlene Dietrich as the femme fatale in Morocco.
Nominated for Best Actress 1931.

The elegant Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday.
Best Actress 1953.

Faye Dunaway dressed to kill in Bonnie and Clyde.
Nominated Best Actress 1967.

Ditzy Diane Keaton in Annie Hall. Best Actress 1977.

2010 Best Actress Nominations
Sandra Bullock "The Blind Side"
Helen Mirren "The Last Station"
Carey Mulligan "An Education"
Gabourey Sidibe "Precious"
Meryl Streep "Julie & Julia"

My vote is for the delightful Carey Mulligan.
