ON THE ROAD

Preparing for a short trip north of the city to spend a few days

with family. The weather is foul. wind, rain and flooding. Not my

favorite conditions for driving. I will take it slow. I hope you

do the same and stay dry if you happen to be trudging

around the city today. If you are lucky enough to be where

the sun is say hello for me. I look forward to the warm hugs

that await me on the other side of the ark.

i am glad for friday. it has been a busy week. hustling, hustling, hustling. i was thinking of what i could do this weekend that would be out of the ordinary. many things came to mind but i thought how lovely it would be to ride my bike wearing fancy shoes licking my lips of cotton candy. of course this will never happen but just the thought has put me in a brighter mood.

do something fun maybe even a bit daring, you may surprise yourself.

Well the nor'easter blew through with a vengeance to make way for plenty of sunshine and the arrival of Spring. I'll be taking a brief hiatus from blogging this week to put the last minute touches on the flower site and direct attention to other projects while my tech guru works his magic.

BONJOUR AMI

I had all intentions of taking a break from blogging this weekend but after yummy waffles n bananas for breakfast i quickly found myself under my furry blanket on the couch feeling a bit lazy. The apartment is in desperate need of a rubdown. There is a pile of laundry beckoning attention. Here i sit distracting myself from my long list of chores. The rain is still falling like mad. All morning i've been listening to Charlotte Gainsbourg's album IRM. It's put me in a bit of a lovely trance.

Well the much anticipated arrival of Keith McNally's Pulinos is almost here. The soft opening (breakfast and lunch only) is slated for Monday 3/15 and reservations are now being accepted. Dinner service starts later this month.

I'm a fan of both Balthazar and Schiller's (ok and the occasional Shake Shack) two of KM's successful eateries. I'm looking forward to tasting the goods at this new spot. Meats and cheeses and wine. What better way to kick off the spring season in downtown NYC.

PARIS FASHION WEEK. on the runways...

There is a little bit of crazy for everyone when it comes to headpieces for Fall/Winter 2010.

The designers at Paris Fashion Week have made some quirky, amusing, outrageous toppers, but warm? Who needs to be warm when you can look fashionable. Turbans, babushkas, veils, leather caps, hooded bonnets. I must admit as ridiculous as it is i'm loving the Maison Martin Magiela furry hat with giant ear flaps that would probrably swallow me whole. Not very practical but what fun!

Even so Spring is almost here. Fall can wait (for now).

MY VOTE

There were some wonderful films in 2009 but the two that i loved the most are represented among this year's long list of Oscar nominees. Wes Andersen's amusing animated feature "The Fantastic Mr. Fox" and Tom Ford's poignant "A Single Man."
